I wonder why native speakers use 'look at it' instead of 'look it at' while using 'look it up in a dicationary'.
Would you explain it gramatically?

"look at" is an inseparable phrasal verb -- the direct object needs to follow "at." "Look ** up" is separable; I could say "I looked it up in a dictionary" or "I looked up the word in a dictionary." |
