Is "to be let" in the following sentence correct?

He palced an advertisement for a room to be let.

Hello Jays

It's more usual to say:

1. He placed an advertisement (in the paper) for a room to let.

(You probably need to specify where he placed the ad, as well.)

Also, "to let" is BrE while AmE would say "for rent."
