" Protesters have finally forced Shamrock Monkey Farm near Henfield to close. "

In this sentence, "closed" instead of " to close" is possible?

The way it is written, the sentence means that the protesters caused the farm to close = forced the farm out of business.

If you wrote it, "Protesters have forced the farm closed," it would be understood to mean the same thing, but it would be a little unusual.

"I forced the door closed" would be a more natural use of "closed" in such a sentence. That would mean that I had to use unusual pressure to close the door.

I hope this helps. Probably other people's comments will expand on or even contradict what I see.
