| Captivity refers to the state of being captive, captured, or enclosed, as in "The wolves were raised in captivity." Captive (noun) refers to a person or animal who is in such a condition. "The captives were released after four days." Captive can also work as an adjective: "He was transporting captive snakes." Captivity can only be a noun. |
