Hello,

Are "hate doing sth" and "hate to do sth" the same?

I hate coming home to an empty house.
I hate to come home to an empty house.

Somebody suggested that with "to", it implies that you don't want to do that particular action.

I hate to interrupt, but...
I hate interrupting other people's conversations.

Or is it the case that sometimes there isn't any difference and that it depends on the verb and/or the context?

"hate" like "love" in a similar post of yours can take either the to-infinitive or the ing-infinitive.
