Dear all,

I'd like to ask a question about the expression "sit and back".
I wonder what it means in the passages below.

1.
...when I reach an eighteenth hole, I like to sit and back and reflect on the last seventeen holes from once I already came. But I don't reflect too much, for I have yet one more hole to play...

2.
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies I sit and meanwhile back

I couldn't find it in any dictionaries. Does it simply mean sit and relax or something?

Thank you!

.
1-- I believe that it is a misprint for sit back (= relax in a chair by leaning backward). Can you give us a link to the original source?

2-- You have not read the complete sentence:

There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back In Penny Lane there is a fireman with an hourglass..
.

Back in Penny Lane: I'm sitting here and back there is the fireman.
