1. Her father Mr. Bedwell is a doctor.
2. Her father, Mr. Bedwell, is a doctor.

Question Is 2 more grammatical than 1?
Question Is 1 ungrammatical?

You want to set off the appositive in commas.

"My friend, Abe Lincoln, likes to chop wood." Tells us which friend, but without the name, the sentence still makes sense.

"My sister, Madonna, likes to sing." Tells us the name of the sister.

"Two qualities, honesty and integrity, are needed for being a lawyer." Tells us what the qualities are. If not set off in commas, the appositive would be confusing and maybe misleading.

Do you mean that 2 is better than 1?
Question If so, is it OK to use 1?
Thank you so much!

Yes, no. 2 is right and no. 1 is wrong. You can even hear the commas when you say the sentence.

When it is a short appositive and you are identifying one of several specific persons or things, you can omit the commas.

"I have two sisters, Madonna and Celine. My sister Madonna is a good dancer."
