can anyone look at that? can we use exapmles in comparison essays? here is the " piece of my art"
In comparing Wag the Dog and American Dreamz, though the movies structure between both of them is very different, there are some striking similarities in the media manipulation that was shown in those movies.
Both Wag the Dog and American Dreamz shows media as a political usage source. Wag the Dog displays two agents who are working on agreement with Hollywood producer to manufacture a fake war. In this case, secret agents use media as a tool for showing deceiving information about events in the world and the Presidential presence in them. The agents made up the provocative political situation in order to clean the Presidents reputation. Similarly, in American Dreamz where presidents chief uses media to introduce the President to his country before his reelection. It is amazing how much media in any form plays a tremendous role in peoples mind. Both movies showed how much political ideas of the US population depend on what media shows about politician. Both movies display media as a device for increasing number of populations votes. As an example, in American Dreamz the President is invited to judge on the countrys popular show. This trick was done in order to create the image of the President who is just like regular people watches the crowd- pleasant show and approves of it. The same example appears in Wag the Dog, where the President appears as a savior for poor Albanian girl and a diplomat for solving the Albanian conflict.
Another similarity when media manipulates people displays deeper in American Dreamz. This movie demonstrates the real American dream: to be shown on TV and therefore become popular. The simple poor girl from Ohio is on her road to the dream of her life to become a singer. But behind this nave scene is the purpose of participating in TV show and becoming famous and well- known by other people. In the same way, the secret agents from Wag the Dog want the President to become famous for positive actions such as a preventing the Albanian conflict. The media in both movies was shown as a method for changing ones lifestyle and image. As soon as the person is on TV, he or she becomes popular and famous, and ready for further actions such as the acting in the Hollywood. For example, the contestant from the American Dreamz show after scandal with her miserable boyfriend and the incident with the shows host, ended up as the shows host herself. Simply, she kicked everyone else out to achieve her goal. The media in those movies has a power over peoples actions: to vote, to think and to live. But the conspicuous part of it is the persons image and the way people treat each other after one of them has a chance to appear on TV.
Please corrrect my mistakes, teachers or whoever is looking.
Thanks guys!
