I'd say it was inevitable.
Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and probably Kuwait do not want to see democracy succeed in Iraq because their own dictatorship/monarchies may be threatened when their people see their neighbours are free.

The coalition forces were never in Iraq to solve any problem. And right now they are the problem. The only good thing is Saddam is gone.

What would happen if U.S and coalition forces leave Iraq right now?

I think Iraq would suffer some hard time if the States and coalition forces leave Iraq right now, however they may finally restore the social order and become the democratic country .

I am also sure that the U.S and coalition forces won't leave Iraq until the Iraq 's situation becomes stable and Iraq has well-buildup military and police force.

Now the U.S and coalition are eager to train the Iraq military and the police force, when they are well built up,the U.S and coalition forces will gradually reduce their number and leave Iraq with the honor which they have earned.

As asterix said that some middle east dictatorship regimes such as Iran and Syria don't want Iraq become free and democratic country which threatens their interests. So the success of free and democratic Iraq is vital to the middle East 's demacracy, the success of Iraq is also vital to anti-terrorism.

so no matter whoever -the Republicans or the democrats in the United States becomes the next president or control the parliaments ,the policy toward to Iraq will not be changed easily.Through the history, the united State is very responsible nation which they made Nazi Germany and Militarism Japan democratic countries which they are now the world peaceful powers.

The world without Saddam is better ,it is a big progress for the Middle East to move toward to democracy.God blesses Iraqis ,continues blessing America.

Wow! That is a news for me about the US made Nazi Germany a peaceful country. Do you know the number of the victims of the Second World War? The US has lost 300.000 people and the USSR 25.000.000! Only in fight for Berlin 300.000 russian soldiers were wrecked! Practicly there is no family in Russia whose members were not the participants of that war.
Now about Iraq. Of course now there wil be a civil war! US and coalition forces broke that ant hill which is called Sadam's regime... But according to historical experience it's better to let the people solve their problems by their own way! In any case I'm sure that Iraqeans consider US soldiers as invadors.
