Hello, ssp and welcome to Dave's.

Well, I had never heard of BEC before you mentioned it. I see it is British. TOEIC is American in origin, and is used all over the world. It is a major test here in Japan.

However, both these language proficiency tests merely measure your abilities; they do not help you learn more English. You haven't told us why you want to take one of these tests.

Not really. Taking preparatory classes for a language proficiency test merely prepares you for the test; any odd vocabulary you may learn or listening practice you may receive along the way is negligible.

Take a Business English class for speaking and listening; read at home for reading ability-- the newspaper, Forbes magazine, etc.

What makes you think I am not an expert, ssp?
