Consequently, English also remains an important language in educational and official functions, because it is considered the best compromise language for many purposes. |
What does 'the best compromise language' mean?
And also I'd like to know if 'compromise' is often used as an adjective like the above example among native speakers.
Thanks. |

1. I think this means that English is a good choice if people from various places need to communicate. Everyone probably would prefer to communicate in his or her first language. But someone from Japan and someone from Turkey, for instance, will have trouble doing that. However, maybe they both know some English.
2. I've heard it fairly often, seen it less often. |
