Dear Experts,
I really hope u could help me!!! English is a "funny" (read "strange") language, no two ways about it!!!
I have real difficulty understanding what "commencement year" means....coz obviously it tends to have to radically opposing meanings (just like a "contranym") in the English-speaking world....some universities on their websites use it in the sense of "the year when u begin ur studies"....while others obviously seem to interpret this as "the year when u have ur commencement exercise, i.e. u r awarded ur diploma, hence the year when u finish ur studies"....IF YOU COULD HELP ME DECIPHER THIS INTRICACY OF ENGLISH I WOULD BE MOST GRATEFUL!!!!
Best wishes,
Nadya |
