"What care should be provided, by whom, and in what setting?"
Please tell me what the subject is in this sentence so I can figure out if I need to use "who" or "whom". Thanks.
I thought my English was good, but writing makes me not so sure! |

Hi wavedrifter,
"What" (kind of) is an adjective describing "care". "Care" is the subject. "By whom" and "in what setting" are prepositional phrases qualifying "care." Since "whom" is the object of a preposition, it must be "whom" and not "who."
