Hello,
One more question on Martha show

--------------
Martha is talking about a dog with Roger

R we got her a dog the other day
M What kind?

R a sh a sh. schnoodle
M schnoodle?

M Made out of what?
R fur

M not that
What two dogs make a schnoodle?

R a schnauzer and a poodle

and it was difficult. You heard about these things. Theres the labradoodle, and we looked at a schwippit, which was a little too high-energy
labradoodle

R and there as also the c ocker maltese, which..
M C ocker maltese? What does that turn out to be?

R well, termalt was not really on of that was safe, wasnt it?
---> I don't understand the sentence
M And, what about the bulldog?
R It is a bulldong and a shih tzu

---> I don't understand the context
1) does bulldong and shih tzu makes a *beep* maltese? or
2) Roger considered buying bulldog or shih tzu

M you can guess extrapolate, pls
R yes

They are combining parts of the two names of dogs, like schnauzer + poodle = schnoodle.

For the c o c k e r + maltese, you can combine the last part of c o c k e r and the first part of maltese (kermalt), or the first part of c o c k e r and the last part of maltese (co**tese), which is a naughty word that can't be said on TV. So "termalt" was safe.

For bulldog + shih tzu, the natural thing to think is bull shih tzu, which also can't be said on TV.

Probably the audience started laughing as soon as M said "c o c k e r maltese," and louder for bulldog shih tzu.

Wow, I have never thought Kermalts came from that.
I would have never figured it out by myself.

Thanks:)
