Hi. I am a teacher who is putting together a workshop for other teachers. I am looking for stories about what it is like being an ESL student in the United States to share with the teachers in the workshop.
Some questions to get you thinking (answer whichever ones you want):
What culture is your family from?
How are you the same as people in your family? How are you different?
How is/was your school the same as or different from your home?
Describe your experiences learning English. Did you keep your native language? Why or why not?
Can you remember a time when you felt different than the other children in your school? How did the children react? How did you feel? What did the adults do?
I work in an elementary school, so if you can remember your first school experiences, that would be great. Thank-you for sharing! _________________ Life's Learner |
