Have anyone heard that someone learned English from movie?
I've heard it but I'm curious if it works.
First, you have to cover the caption and listen to what character says.
then, imitate the way they speak even you don't understand what thay say. After practicing and practicing, you'll speak like an American(of course you have to see a hollywood movie). But in my opinion, it's VERY difficult to do it. Am I practicing not enough?? |

I think you probably can learn this way, but it will be more difficult than studying in a class or by following a course. Films often use complicated dialogue and even non-standard language, so you're really starting with the hard stuff. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing at all, but make sure you also learn by studying in class, or reading, or by having conversations yourself. You wouldn't learn to drive just by watching a movie with fast cars in it! |

Check the sticky topic above, How to learn English. There are several posts about watching movies. Good luck! _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

shiloh, I'm practising that way of studying. It would be better to watch DVD with subtitres, so if they talk fast for you, you can pres "pause" and read what did they say. Most i like to watch "Friends". Well, IMHO it's not bad way for learning. |
