Hello,
Is this an appropriate question in this situation?
Situation: your friend has just come out of the exam room. You ask:
"How did you do?"
Personally, it sounds really odd to me. I would ask:
"How did it go?"
"How did you find it?"
Any other suggestions?
Thank you,

Well, the only reason that "How did you do?" sounds a little funny is that your friend probably doesn't yet know how he / she did on the test. You would be more likely to say, "How do you think you did?"
After your friend gets the results, you can ask, "How did you do?" and that is quite natural.
"How did it go?" and "How did you find it?" more accurately ask your friend his reaction to the test right after he / she took it, while "How did you do?" asks what score he / she achieved. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
