Hello,

"Edible mushrooms which grow in the wild are only available in a specific time of the year."

1. Is the use of "in" appropriate here? Is there any other prepositions that can be used in this sentence?

2. Is "the" before "year" necessary?

3. Do we say "around this time of year" or "around this time of the year"?

Thank you,

Nawee

1. Is the use of "in" appropriate here? Is there any other prepositions that can be used in this sentence? -- I find in odd and would use at myself ('at a time').

2. Is "the" before "year" necessary? -- No.

3. Do we say "around this time of year" or "around this time of the year"? -- Both are OK. I am sure that I have said both at one time or another.
