"If you are kind and considerate to others and always seem happy, you will find people return your goodwill and your happiness will be reflected in them."
Well, I understand this paragraph, but failed to explain "your happiness will be reflected in them" fully to my students. Could you explain it to me further? or put it another way? Thanks a million! |

A reflection is what you see in a mirror - if you smile the reflection smiles, if you shine a torch you see the light in the mirror. People aren't exactly mirrors, but they do act differently depending on what's happening around them. If you're happy and considerate to people, you'll see happiness in them - it's like smiling into a mirror.
Reflections are often used as a metaphor for seeing the results, consequences or symptoms of something - you'll hear people say that someone's hard work is reflected in their success, or that someone's popularity is a reflection of their friendly nature.
