Dear Teachers,
1. You know what! Susan wont go anywhere with Jake. Hes such a pain.
- What does hes such a pain mean here?
2. He didnt sound so hall. He sounded kind of sweet.
- What does hall mean here?
Thanks a lot to Teachers,

1. It is short for "pain in the a s s," a crude expression used frequently because so many people can be such pains. You should not use the full expression in polite company, but if you use the short version, everyone knows what you mean.
2. I've never heard the expression. Did you see it in writing or did you hear it? Maybe the speaker muttered something else . . . . _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
