Are the following sentences correct?
What's the difference in meaning between the two sentences of each set?
I would greatly appreciate your kindness if both an American teacher who lived on the West Coast for a long time and knows the West Coast English well and a British teacher would give me replies.
S11: There is not parking here.
S12: There is no parking here.
S21: There is not running in the hall.
S22: There is no running in the hall.
S31: There is not avoiding the loss.
S32: There is no avoiding the loss.
S41: There is not getting around the job.
S42: There is no getting around the job.
Thank you. _________________ Tetsu |

| No for all of them - you're using it as an emphatic form of 'not any'. I think you're technically negating noun phrases, in which case you use a determiner (no, any etc.) and not just not. |

You would not hear a native speaker say any of the "not" sentences, only the "no" sentences. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
