The two halves of the report do not correspond.

In the quote, what does 'halves' mean? I wonder how 'two halves' can be in one report. Can you teach me?

Thanks.

Well halves is the plural of half. If you divide something into two parts of equal size or amount, then you have two halves. So if the report is in two sections, you can call them the two halves of the report.
