When "chain" has the same meaning of "series":

First
Can "a chain of" always be used with both "plural nouns" and "countable singular nouns"?

Second
Can "a chain of" always be used with both "uncountable nouns" and "singular pronouns?

Third
Must "a chain of" always be used with "singular verbs"?

Fourth
Give me examples for each, please.
