When "train" and "string" has the same meaning of "series":

First
Can "a train of" and "a string of" always be used with both "plural nouns" and "countable singular nouns"?

Second
Can "a train of" and "a string of" always be used with both "uncountable nouns" and "singular pronouns?

Third
Must "a train of" and "a string of" always be used with "singular verbs"?

Fourth
Give me examples for each, please.
