beancurdturtle and ltp-008, you guys are getting into another love feast on the thread cuture about China just as I have done with ieltsinsider Laughing in another love feast, I have become very famous and popular. so I hope you guys, beancurdturtle and ltp-008, can get as popular and famous as me by the argument Laughing

You know what? when you guys, beancurdturtle and ltp-008, are having a combat, I can't help thinking that you guys are stealing my thunder Laughing Laughing

I have watched you guys debate all the way, to be honest, I think, mostly, beancurdturtle often gets the run upon, of course, sometimes ltp has an argument too. all in all, the debate between beancurdturtle and ltp-008 is very cliff-hanging and amazing!! I expect a more wonderful performance from you guys!

beancurdturtle and ltp-008! come on!! now it's fight time! Give us another wonderful performance!! Let's see who will be the second winner after RedRose !!

This forum should bring up more stars. I am not supposed to be the only one Laughing Laughing

Don't be silly RedRose. I don't care to be popular, and I don't care to win a combat. There are others besides ltp-008 who disagree with my opinions on things - but in all cases I am not concerned about those who disagree with me.

However, I will answer with my opinion and (sometimes) facts when I feel my words are being twisted, when I am being insulted without foundation, When someone puts words in my mouth, or when I feel I miscommunicated and am therefore misunderstood. I don't lie, twist truth, or intentionally insult anyone.

I don't think any time is "fight time." It would be a waste of time to fight me anyway - it would make as much sense as wrestling water.
老子:「道德经」:第八章
上善若水。

水善利万物而不争,
处众人之所恶,故几于道。

居善地,心善渊,与善仁,
言善信,政善治,事善能,
动善时。夫唯不争,故无尤。

Come on! it's so much fun! yeah, someone puts words into your mouth, the same case happened to me many times. and that's still fun!

when I have a love feast with ieltsinsider, she always twists my points and puts words into my mouth too. but I think that's her way to protect herself. yeah, sometimes that sucks, but if you take it as love feast or fight, it's also fun.

Believe or not. we always reply those malicious posts in the first place, sooner than we reply those friendly posts. you see, I am an English-learner, I need to practise my english-writing. replying posts is a good way to practise; and replying the malicious posts would be the best way to practise!!

But Turtle, I forgot that you don't have to practise your english-writing, you are a native already. therefore, replying malicious posts isn't as much fun to you as it's to me. sigh! sometimes I am careless!

Ok, then I still hope you guys have fun debating, as much as I have fun debating with ieltsinsider Laughing Laughing Laughing

Here's another idiomatic English phrase for the day:
"I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man."

Don't worry ltp-008. Though I don't agree with some of your conclusions - I do think you are witty. I just put the phrase here for fun, and so people can learn it.

Hmmm...

RedRose is trying to be a catalyst for contention ltp-008.

We should surprise her by finding something we agree on.

Sorry!

Don't worry, my Chinese language skills are terrible too.

These are English interpolations of chapters from the Dao De Jing.
http://www.religiousworlds.com/taoism/ttcmerel.html

Laozi Dao De Jing: 69th chapter
There is a saying among soldiers:
It is easier to lose a yard than take an inch.

In this manner one may deploy troops without marshalling them,
Bring weapons to bear without exposing them,
Engage the foe without invading them,
And exhaust their strength without fighting them.

There is no worse disaster than misunderstanding your enemy;
To do so endangers all of my treasures;
So when two well matched forces oppose eachother,
The general who maintains compassion will win.

老子:「道德经」:第八章
上善若水。

水善利万物而不争,
处众人之所恶,故几于道。

居善地,心善渊,与善仁,
言善信,政善治,事善能,
动善时。夫唯不争,故无尤。

Laozi Dao De Jing: 8th chapter
The best of man is like water,
Which benefits all things, and does not contend with them,
Which flows in places that others disdain,
Where it is in harmony with the Way.

So the sage:
Lives within nature,
Thinks within the deep,
Gives within impartiality,
Speaks within trust,
Governs within order,
Crafts within ability,
Acts within opportunity.

He does not contend, and none contend against him.
