hello iam currently doing my alevels and need for right information.
in 2007 i would be doing external courses provided by the british univercities. i have heard that there is a requirement of minimum three subjects. whereas iam thinking of giving maths and business whole. and english AS combined with general studies AS. will the univercities accept such combination of subjects if i opt for buisness studies?
i need proper information.please reply soon. _________________ go the last mile_ and enjoy it! |

You are talking about going to Britain to attend university, right? It's been a few years since I had to apply to university, so maybe things have changed a little, but the general requirement for a course was usually three A-levels at certain grades (like BCC). Some universities also used a points system, where an A-level at grade A was worth so many points, a B was worth less etc., and you simply needed a certain number of points to qualify for a course. It would be possible to gain entry if your two A-level grades were high enough to give you enough points, and I think your AS-levels would carry over too (although people rarely count General Studies as a real A/AS-level ).
Really you should contact the universities for information, they'll be able to tell you for certain and let you know what exceptions they make. I think the fact you're a foreign student will make a difference too, since you're coming from a different education system. |

thanks for the information. yes i think you are right that i must ask the univercities for their requirement. but i just want to ask another question... can two different AS subjects be considered as one Alevel. _________________ go the last mile_ and enjoy it! |

I'm not sure but I think they might. AS-levels were fairly new when I was taking my A-levels, and they were often described as 'half an A-level'. Some universities may prefer people to have taken full A-levels but you'd really need to ask the individual institutions. So that's a tentative yes |
