At these phrases, are "season" and "date" "abstract nouns"?

Interesting question, Marrion. I would tend to call them simply stock phrases or idiomatic compositions and be done with it.

out of season
out of date
out of touch
out of patience
out of earshot

etc.


There are likely other-- and more considered-- opinions.
