Hi,

I asked the following question in July but without any reply. I'd like to try again. Many thanks in advance.

What are the minute differences among these sentences?

1. I hope to hear from you soon.
2. I hope to be hearing from you soon.
3. I wish to hear from you soon.

Besides, when will we use 'to be Ving' pattern? Could you elaborate on it? Thanks!

Leslie

Wish is a desire, and hope is a feeling that a wish/desire will be fulfilled.

#2 sounds unsusal, though not ungrammatical.

You can make up examples in "to be Ving" pattern, but they could always have simpler options, as in the example you gave.
