Believe or not, I miss you.

We had some fierce arguments in the pass weeks, and obviously, because of your extremity and your weak skills of arguing, you lost everytime, I am very sorry. but still, mostly, you made me post my ideas here everyday, and I practised my English-writing very often, in this respect, I should thank you. in fact, I really appreciate you for those fighting days. I had a great time with you.

I had fun with you in the past, but now, you are gone, then the fun is gone with you too.

Recently, without you, I don't have that much enthusiasm to post my ideas here. Maybe that's why I miss you so much!!

If you read this thread, dear ieltsinsider, please come back as soon as possible, I will be generous to you in the future.

That's a very kind way of challenging someone to a combat.

I never thought we posters were fighting against one another at Dave ESL Cafe. And BTW, what is your conception of "winning" these so called fights?

That's just your viewpoint. not mine. and I don't think you were me.

When you point out someone's ridiculous points and you prove they are wrong with plenty of facts and evidences (not including the ones people make up themselves or people twist the truth or people put words into others' mouth), then that's what I mean by arguments or fight or whatever you will call.

hum, I see... coul you show me an example in which you have "won", then? Could you show me one of these "fights" in which you have proved someone else was wrong with plenty of facts and evidences?

1. have fun
2. try to subdue the opponent
3. show other posters not to annoy Mrs.RedRose
4. learn English

Come on! you know that's not true. this forum isn't a prison. we don't have to subdue anyone Laughing

XW, you are nuts.

No, that's not the point. the point is that we shouldn't attack other countries with any nonexistence.

ClarissaMach, to be honest, I guess you don't have that much fun on this forum. because you always take things too seriously. frankly, you are not funny.

That's just a guess, if you disagree, then it's ok. you have fun with all seriousness.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ok, I enjoy the teasing you offered. go on. let's have fun here. Smile

Here is a great place for me. I can learn english as well as have fun on this forum. there are many great teachers here, such as Lorikeet, Bob, bud, CP, asterix, beancurdturtle...... they are all patient teachers, I hope my students would like me as much as I like these excellent teachers.

I remember, Lorikeet even sent me pm in which she told me that I had an English mistake in my post, and I will never forget that mistake and her kind help, that mistake was about the difference between classical and classic. I misused both of them.

The other reason why I like this forum is because on the forum there are many funny and intelligent people with whom we can discuss anything and from whom we can learn not only english but also smart ideas.

Also, as you said, ClarissaMach, I often tease people (especially unreasonable people Very Happy ) and that's fun too. imagine: when you argue with an unreasonable person, whose english is better than your. then when you make a grammar mistake, she would tell you:"I am sad to talk to such a person like you, who dosen't know english! look at you!! look at your bad grammer:.....(then she would quote your wrong grammar and correct it!!)......., isn't that great? Laughing Laughing finally, you can win the argument, meanwhile, you can improve your english as well!! and that's what we call kill two birds with a stone!!

I couldn't live without this forum Razz

Your reasons are very similar to mine. I believe the best way for learning a foreign language is exposing yourself to it as much as possible. Since I haven't had--yet--the chance of spending some time in an English speaking country (I'd love to visit England and Canada!), I try to keep in contact with the language via movies, songs, books, magazines, audiobooks, and foruns like this.

Watching movies/TV shows and listening to songs and audiobooks allow me to keep my listening skills sharp, whereas reading books and magazines help me to improve my vocabulary. But what about writing? Of course reading a lot helps to improve one's style, but it's also necessary to practice writing itself. That is why I came here: I wanted to push myself into writing. Once and again I revise my own posts, correcting the mistakes I wasn't able to notice at first. English is a language very different from my native one (Portuguese); I believe some day I'll be able to write perfectly in Spanish or French, but I'm not so sure I'll be able to do the same when it comes to English.

Besides, as you said above, this forum teaches us a lot of things we wouldn't learn through the books or the news. Here we see things from the eyes of the "real" people, the "average citizen". You, for example, hold a point of view about your country that no book would ever allow me to know. It's the point of view of a Chinese woman who knows the best and the worst about her country. It's a unique perspective.

Today is like the worst day for me!! let me tell why!

I have missed ieltsinsider terribly! then I talked to a friend and I told him:"a cute girl named ieltsinsider is gone from my favorite forum, I miss her a lot! she is gone, and the fun is gone with her! she never showed up again!!! she even didn't receive my pm!"

My friend was a good analyst, he told me:"I just read those thread in which you guys exchanged your ideas, the only explanation would be: she died of all the argument! maybe she got a heart attack, anyway, she must have been very painful before she died!"

Listening to my friend's explanation, I got shocked!! NO!! that wouldn't be true! I don't want ieltsinsider to die!!

ieltsinsider, if you are still alive, please come back!! I want you alive!! Rolling Eyes

My guess is that you and ieltsinsider are two different kinds of people, Red Rose. Some people like to argue, and think it's like a competition. Other people don't enjoy it in the same way. If you had spoken to me like you did to ieltsinsider, I would have stopped arguing, and perhaps left. I don't know how ieltsinsider felt, but my guess is that he/she (you knew it was she?) decided it wasn't fun and wasn't worth his/her time.
