It means that, in the USA, the average dividend paid on Real Estate Investment Trusts is 5.13% on the amount invested.
So, if you have invested 100 dollars you will get a dividend (i.e. interest) of $5.13 at the end of the year. This can be added to your investment, or it can be withdrawn in cash.
yield in dividend terms is the weird kind of English investment professionals use all the time - it is poor English. |
