"I don't know exactly where he is from."
Is it OK to change this sentence to the following?
1 "I don't have an exact idea where he is from."
2 "I don't know exactly the place where he is from."
Thank you in advance!

| The original sentence is more natural. |

Thank you, Anuradha Chepur-san!!
So, sentence 1 and 2 are understandable but not natural, are'nt they?
Then "I don't know exactly the place which he is from." is grammatically wrong?

You can say it is very clumsy and most of them don't use the expression that way. |
