I've been 'pondering' over this for a long time.. just couldn't get it.
shouldn't it be "all your bases belong to us"?
if the sentence is meant to be a joke, then what would it mean?
(I usually see this in game forums)
How does "All your bases are belong to us" sound to you(native speaker)? Does the sentence look weird?
whoo~ I don't get it.. @.@
Could you please help me with this?
Thank you very much for reading. _________________ korean, lives in Winnipeg Canada, university student |

Actually, I usually hear it as, "All your base are belong to us."
It is, indeed, "incorrect" English.
Ah I found the entry about it in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_your_base_are_belong_to_us
It says, "The text is taken from the opening cut scene of the English version of the 1989 Japanese video game Zero Wing by Toaplan." I remember seeing it. It is still occasionally used by people in the game I play, using other nouns. ("All your clothes are belong to us." "All your weapons are belong to us." etc. ) It is still not correct English. |
