Hi Everyone,

I am new as a teacher and I would like some advices on how to manage one of my class. I am teaching in Madrid and today I had my first difficult class. The school told me that my students where at an Elementary level and I found out that they can not even say the English alphabet correctly. I had a 2 hours course with them and I try everything to relax the atmosphere but they kept making joke in Spanish and not really trying to talk in English. I did an opposite flashcards game and hangman with the new words but I felt the contact did not get through. They do not react and keep giggling. It is the first time I feel that and I got several others class with whom the atmosphere is great. Any ideas?
Thank you very much,
Vincenzo

I'd suggest you check out the Teacher Forums on this website. While there are a few teachers who come to the Student Forums to answer questions, there are a lot more on the Teacher Forums, and there is a special forum for elementary school, for activities and games, and so on.
