Affiliate are those companies and firms we affiliate with and share resources to the best advantage of our clients. Affiliates are offered reduced fees for services for their clients in exchange for similar consideration with our clients.

Could you paraphrase this paragraph? Thanks.

Affiliates are businesses, groups, organisations etc. which other organisations are associated with, or have deals with, so that they can all provide better services and be more competitive. Imagine you're moving into a new house, and you need to sign up with a phone company (for a phone line) and an internet service provider (so you can use the internet). You might see phone companies offering deals like 'sign up with us for your phone line, and get 50% off an internet connection with company X'. The internet company might do something similar: 'sign up with us for your internet, and save 50% on your calls with phone company Y'. The two companies are affiliated, and work together to create deals which make them both more attractive to customers (and hopefully win them more business).

Thanks Redset. I'm a little confused about the bold part of "Affiliates are offered reduced fees...". It means "Affiliates are those who offered reduced fees...". Is that right? Thanks.

No. The affiliates are the affiliated groups, the ones that are connected together -- the "in group," so to speak. If you are in the "in group" of affiliates, your clients will get a reduced price from us, and in exchange, you will be expected to give a reduced price to our clients.

CP's right, but it also depends on exactly how the affiliation works. In your example (as CP said) it's talking about companies who say 'ok, you're our customer so we can also offer this particular service (through an affiliate) for less money'. You might pay your company the money, and they ask the affiliate to provide the service (for a lower fee than usual) or your company might direct you to the affiliate, and you pay them less money than usual because you're a customer of the first company. It's a little like doing favours for someone because they're a friend of one of your friends, but because it's a business you expect something in return Wink

I think you're basically right in the part I quoted - affiliates are offered reduced fees by their affiliates, so affiliates have to be offering reduced fees (to their affiliates). It just depends on whether the company you're a customer of will handle the whole thing for you, or if you have to contact the affiliate yourself. Do you give your broken clock to your friend so he can take it to someone he knows who can fix it, or does your friend send you to this person yourself? It's that kind of thing.
