Hello,

Please read this sentence:

In order to keep fit, remember to exercise every day!

I wonder whether an imperative can be preceded by "in order to V."

"In order to keep fit, exercise every day."

That's probably better than your example sentence, because the real connection is between keeping fit and exercising, not between keeping fit and remembering to exercise.

"Remember to exercise every day in order to keep fit."

This way keeps the ideas together and still allows the imperative for "remember" rather than "exercise."

Yes, "in order to V" can come before or after an imperative without changing the meaning:

In order to keep fit, remember to exercise every day!
Remember to exercise every day in order to keep fit!
