Can you help me understand the use of myself, yourself, etc? _________________ My name is Armando. I am from Baja California, Mexico. I am 16-years-old, living in Mt. .
The reflexive pronouns have two main uses, Armando.
#1-- to indicate that the verb acts upon the subject of the sentence: I hurt myself; They thought themselves quite smart.
#2-- as an intensifier of the action or thought: I myself have never smoked a cigarette; Though he offers marital guidance, John himself is divorced.
In both cases, the subject and the reflexive pronoun must share the same referent.
