Hello,

1. In English, we usually say:

He hit me in the face.

Is "He hit my face." grammatically acceptable ?

BTW, the use of the prepositions differs according to the parts of our body.

Which one is correct?

(1)He hit me in the ear.
He hit me on the ear.

(2)He hit me in the chest.
He hit me on the chest.

I wonder how to use the prepositions when they are followed by "the+(the part of the body)."

2. I once read a sentence as "He slapped me across the face."
I can understand "in the face" but not "across the face."
What does that mean?

Thanks for your help!!!!
