#1. Is it possible to replace "as we have known it" with " that we have known"?

#2. "AS" used above is similar to "AS" in the following? : "There were no confectioners , as we know now them, until 19th century."

#3. Could you give some more example sentences using the same "AS" as above?

#1 -- No, unless you preface life with the definite article. Even then, the set phrase 'life as we know it' (and its verbal variations) conveys more of the image of the whole social and natural structure around us. It is a common phrase, vide Ms Google:

1,120,000 English pages for "life as we know it"


#2-- Yes, it looks like the same as to me.

#3-- I can recommend no better than MS GOOGLE HERSELF.

1. In the " life as we have known it", "it" means "life" or else?
2. "As" used above is similar to these following two "as"?
His criticisms, as I remember, were highly esteemed.
He meant no harm, as I understand him.
