A lot of people felt that way about "Crash," which also seemed as if it had been conceived on a diagram board, from the outside in, rather than the inside out.
Would you explain the bold text?

It is criticism of the film "Crash" as well as another (unnamed) film. I think a diagram board is something used to lay out scenes in the film industry. Personally, I think the rest of it is meaningless, in practical terms, but nevertheless conveys a negative impression of the movie.
So, it is lousy, incomprehensible English to the average person. It may mean something to people who work in the film industry, though. |
