Dear teachers,
Is the following sentence correct? ( 1. If ? 2. adjective?)
If our life has changed for the better depends on how consciously we use the computer.
Would 'Whether or not our life ..' be better?
adjective alternatives: thoughtful?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Best wishes

I would think it is:
Whether our lives have changed for the better depends on how conscientiously we use computers.
"Whether" means the same as "whether or not," so stick with "whether." And the second word has to be an adverb, not an adjective, because it modifies the verb "use." The adverb you use will largely determine the meaning of the sentence.
Compare "conscientiously" with "maliciously" or "cunningly" or "hatefully" or "lovingly" or "beneficially" in the sentence. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb
