I know #1 is right. But I saw #2 in a book. Can we use #2 instead of #1?
If so, in what situation do native speakers use it?

Someone might phrase it that way in a poem, or a speech, but not really in ordinary conversation or writing.
The closest thing might be in answer to a suggestion that the person give up. "Give up? I never could / would." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
