I cannot make sense of the following sentence:
I have never dined with you, sir; and I see no reason why I should know.
Please help me out!

The problem lies in the last word: It should be "now," not "know."
It means: I never ate with you before, and I don't see any reason to eat with you now. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
