what is meant by" lol"
and if i say to my friend that
" I was trying to call you but your phone was busy "
would it be roght or should i say that
"I tried calling you but your number was busy"
or is there any other better way
please help

As to your second question, both examples are proper English and typical sentences. They are not exactly the same, though.

1st: This implies that you tried more than once, and/or there is a context of something else happening at the same time:

a. So there I was with no bus fare to get home. I was trying to call you,..

b. I was trying to call you,.. Where were you?

2nd: This needs no context. It says you called at least once, but it could have been more than once:

a. Bob: Why didn't you call me?
Carol: I tried calling you yesterday, but your number/line/phone was busy.

b. I tried calling you yesterday, but... I was hoping you would want to go see a movie together.
