I have two multiple choice questions on modals. I would be very thankful if you shared your opinions with me

1- Aid agency officials have warned that conditions ----- in the areas where the disaster occured for weeks, maybe months

A) were not supposed to improve
B) need not have improved
C) were not going to improve
D) might not improve
E) wouldn't have improved

2- It's possible that human language ----- distinct from animal communication until the specialization of part of the left hemisphere of the brain occured

A) would rather not be
B) isn't used to being
C) may not have been
D) was not supposed to be
E) will not be

I urgently need an answer thank you
