I know that #1 is right. Can I use #2 instead of #1?
If #2 is the same meaning as #1, is #2 a common expression among native speakers?

There is a slight difference in meaning.

#1 means you literally disconnected the call. The two phones are not connected. It implies that you did it suddenly, or abruptly. In fact, you may have done this without warning. For example

| He made me so mad that I hung up on him. |
#2 means you left the conversation. Perhaps you disconnected after the usual social pleasentries. But another possibility is that you gave the phone to someone else and they continued the conversation. For example:

| My cousin called last night. After we talked, I got off the phone so my parents could say hi. |
