Hello,
I would like to ask a question about English grammar.
I am always puzzled as to whether or not I should use commas with the following words: too, either and yet.
For instance, would I need commas in the following sentences?
1- He likes pizza and I do, too.
2- He doesn't like cheese and I don't either.
3- They haven't arrived yet.
I "think" the first sentence is the only one that needs a comma, but I am not sure; especially, when it comes to using "yet".
Also, every now and then I happen to see sentences using "too" but without commas; is that acceptable or does it depend on the sentence or where "too" is positioned in a sentence?
Thank you. |

Too, either, and yet are adverbs. You don't need to use a comma before them.
I'd punctuate the sentences like this:
1. He likes pizza, and I do too.
2. He doesn't like cheese, and I don't either.
Sentence 3 is correct as is. _________________ Mary W. Ng
