Please help me understand the following passage:
" Now my copying skills include watching and stopping unhealthy thinking, like `If I eat this, I will get fat, before it gets out of hand.
I`ve learned not to become complacent and convince myself `Oh I `ve got this beat` before I really do
I`m unsure about the `I`ve got this beat` before I really do
What does it mean?
Thank you! |

"I've got this beat" means that I've conquered it, that it's not a problem or challenge any longer.
Examples: "I'll beat this weight loss problem."
"He beat his addiction to cocaine."
In this sentence, the author is saying that instead of pretending that his/her problem is "beat," he/she knows that action is necessary to make it happen.
Does that help? |
