The relation between Japan and China is somehow complicated, both Japan and China need each other's markets, but due to some historic issues such as the invasion of China during WWT by Japan militarism and visiting the shrine which has some sentenced war criminals by Japanese leaders the relatin between Japan and China can't be recoved easily any time soon.

But one thing is certain that they both need each other not only in terms of economy, but also in terms of international cooperation, especially recent nuclear test by North Korean.

Given the political system 's defferent between Japan and China, these two countries can't trust each other totally, although China has gradually been reforming its economy into free mearket economy, its dictatoship regime still strictly control civil liberty of its citizens ,Chinese military build-up worry most of Japanese,as long as China doesn't reform its political system,Japan and China can't become true friends.

i'm chinese, i don't hate japanese though many of my friends do. i think chinese and japanese cultures are similar in some way and both people share a lot in common with each other. why should we hate each other because of some historic and political reasons. hatred does no good but forgiveness and considerations do.

Hi Ayume!

I think most of the hatred you mentioned is due to political reasons. I'm from Taiwan and I have friends who are from China, and we all enjoy watching anime and learning about Japanese culture.

It used to be that the KMT government in Taiwan and the CCP government in China placed special emphasis on the feeling against Japan, due to previous wars. However, when the KMT government weakened and Taiwan became truly democratized, that feeling also began to wane. Now, the teenagers in Taiwan are known to be obsessive fans of the Japanese and Korean culture.

I think cultural exchanges allow everyone to appreciate different cultures more and dilute the antagonistic feeling towards each other. History is used as a reference to guide us into the future. Facts should be acknowledged, and things should be remembered and forgiven. It does no one good to hold on to hate and be ultra-nationalistic.

My friends and I are trying to learn Japanese (so I can finally watch anime without subtitles and import games from Japan, haha). I don't have any Japanese friends but would *really* like to make some.
