Hear are my best guesses:
.The cattle egret does not pose a threat to other herons and egrets through competition for available food; their diet consists of a food niche that is not utilized by other birds.
.Even though Juan is studying physics now, he is planning to spend next year studying biology and paleontology. (Or palaeontology. I see nothing wrong grammatically.)
.The torrential rains have had more serious consequences than anyone would have predicted.
.The weeks of summer training are often as tense for sports writers as they are for football players and coaches.
.Among all the people at the meeting, I liked the young woman with John best.
.Unfortunately, the technology employed to send men to the moon has little relevance to the problems of the inner city.
.Fra Diavolo, an Italian bandit, whose real name was Michele Pezza, was executed in Naples in 1806 for having tried to incite Calabria to insurrection. (I'm not too sure about this one.)
.Structures in areas that have had earthquakes are built for withstanding tremors. (I'm not too sure about this one, either.)
.Neither of these reasons justifies our allowing him to pass after he did so poorly in the physics examination.
.Having missed the geography class because his watch had stopped, Maurice went to the teacher and asked for the assignment. |
