I am learning different *genres* of dancing, such as salsa, Chinese traditional dancing and belly dancing.
Is that the same as *types* or which sounds better?
Thanks |

In ballroom dancing you learn different "steps".
Ballrom Dancing is itself a genre, which is a fancy French word for type or style.many, or most latin steps, such as , tango, salsa, rumba, etc., are included in Ballroom Dancing.
Ballet, Jazz and Folk are some of the other genres or styles.

In Hip Hop dancing, is a turn called a step or a move?
Thanks |

Hip Hop is a style of dancing. A turn would be called a move. |
